Here's a copy from a lossless webstream source if anyone is interested. The stream was ran through an Asus Xonar DG soundcard using Cool Edit Pro as the wave editor. (48kbs, 16 bit settings.) I slighty edited the gaps between each track of the webstream and totally silenced background noise in the gaps. No other alterations were done. Because of this being a webstream rip, no .cue or .log files are available. Since this is a lossless group I'm sure most will be concerned with the sound quality. I've heard of people using a program that can verify if a file is indeed lossless or not, although I've never done it myself. If the files don't make the grade I guess I'm being ripped off by the service I use. But according to what Tidal claims (and what's being charged to me) they are supposed to be CD quality streams. Just trying to give full disclosure here. The binary groups have given me an unbelievable amount of releases over the years and I thought this could be a way to give something back. It was suggested earlier in the group to simplifiy things a bit and just download the files off the streaming service straight to the hard drive. To be honest I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that. Don't see a method to perform such a thing on their web app, at least. Anyway, it probably wouldn't be in their best interests to give it away, so I'm not looking for that option anytime soon. For now, the only way I know to obtain a copy on my drive is to rip the tracks with the wave editor. Time consuming, yes, but it's the dead of winter and it beats watching vapid social media on the smart phone screen. As the title suggests, this latter 60's release of Shanks gives a nod to the Fab Four. Some of the jazz reworkings here seem to pander a bit and come across as hip elevator music. But that's just me. Maybe you like a little kitsch with your crackers. Despite that, this may be a release you haven't stumbled across before. Tracks are tagged. Historical info below is from Wikipedia. Track timings may be slighty off what's listed due to my minor edits, but they'll be reasonably close. p.s. - Please take no offense if don't immediately reply to re:'s in the group. Generally I don't look at the groups that closely unless I'm really on a download feeding frenzy. I try to give the releases plenty of .par headroom just in case. Thanks for your understanding and enjoy the vintage Bud if you grab it. - mm Released 1968 Recorded November 3 & 8, 1967 Studio Los Angeles, California Genre Jazz Length 34:53 Label World Pacific - WP 1873 Producer Richard Bock Track listing "Blue Jay Way" (George Harrison) - 3:33 "I Am the Walrus" (John Lennon, Paul McCartney) - 2:54 "The Fool on the Hill" (Lennon, McCartney) - 3:41 "Flying" (Harrison, Lennon, McCartney, Richard Starkey) - 4:01 "Hello Goodbye" (Lennon, McCartney) - 3:23 "Your Mother Should Know" (Lennon, McCartney) - 2:47 "Paper Cup" (Jimmy Webb) - 3:00 "Windy" (Ruthann Friedman) - 2:54 "Never My Love" (Don Addrisi, Richard Addrisi) - 2:56 "I Wanna Be Free" (Tommy Boyce, Bobby Hart) - 2:19 "I Say a Little Prayer" (Burt Bacharach, Hal David) - 3:25 Personnel Bud Shank û alto saxophone, flute Chet Baker û flugelhorn Gary Barone û flugelhorn Dennis Budimir û guitar Herb Ellis û guitar Robert West û bass John Guerin û drums Victor Feldman û percussion ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Generated with Cool NFO Creator - http://fly.to/coolbeans -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
